Synopsis
Maya is a former figure skater who, due to personal tragedy, fails her first two attempts at senior international competition. Inspired by her skating idol, Igor Rusky, she decides at the age of thirty, to get back on the ice and pursue her dream of competing once more. As she starts skating again, she is overcome with the painful memories of her past and develops a unique form of visualization, placing Igor Rusky into her old memories to replace pain with inspiration and giving her a chance to pursue her dreams.
Cast
Once a figure skating prodigy, Maya’s dreams of becoming a champion are put on hold when she is forced to deal with personal and professional tragedy. Through self-determination and hard work, she wins the confidence of her coach, and the support of her father, as she puts it all on the line for one last chance to win the championship.
Igor is a hard working Russian immigrant, new to Canada, and a single father trying to give his daughter, Maya, a better life. Battling depression, addiction and health problems of his own, he struggles through it all to support Maya’s dreams.
Maya’s coach since childhood, Chloe has witnessed Maya’s triumphs and struggles on and off the ice. A strong minded woman who knows how to exploit any situation to her advantage, Chloe becomes Maya’s most powerful ally for success.
Eric, the kind hearted son of a wealthy figure skating rink owner, is approached by Chloe to sponsor Maya’s quest to become a champion. His response inspires Maya to take control of her own training and her own destiny.
Olivia, Eric’s fiance and Maya’s childhood figure skating friend, uses her influence with Eric to prevent him from becoming Maya’s sponsor.
